Score in the Elementary

Last week I started working with a few elementary teachers in SCORE and they seem to be showing some interest. What I’ve done is basically created some activities and assessments for them and placed them into their courses. Then I’ve schedule lab time or laptops and worked with their students. I’m hoping this approach may spark their interest and get them interested in using SCORE. I know this may not be the best approach as I am doing the work for them, but I feel if this is what I need to do to get them started then it will be worth it. My next goal is to get the students discussing their learning through discussion forums and then show the teachers how to begin creating discussions or uploading activities/workssheets ect...

This is a good way to get them started. I have found that many teachers are nervous about using SCORE until they see how user friendly it is. I introduced the idea of "book buddies" to my 3-5 teachers today at both schools. I am going to pair teachers up at the different schools and the students are going to use the discussion board to talk about the book/stories. Surprisingly my lower tech/SCORE users were the first to jump on this idea...I think that is due to the fact that it is going to be a team effort from me and the two teachers at the different schools:-)

Matt... You're in the unique position of being able to compare Elem teachers and MS teachers in how they view SCORE, what they see as the benefits, and how students approach it, too.

Do you notice a difference in how the two groups approach using SCORE?

At this point I see the MS teachers using it much more than the elementary teachers. There is really no push for the elementary teachers to use it from administration so there seems to be no real interest. The teachers I have worked with seem to be very interested in it though and hopefully that will spill over to the other teachers.
